The landscape for the delivery of legal services in the UK has significantly changed with the advent of alternative business structures. Recently, BT Plc. (a telecommunications provider) has been awarded a licence by the Solicitors Regulation Authority for the provision of legal services, via BT Law Ltd., to its corporate customers, initially in the motor claims market. BT says that it plans to grow its business into other areas, such as public liability and employment law for such corporate customers.
